Heirloom asparagus is an open-pollinated variety, Mary Washington, improved with a cross-pollination with Jersey Knight. Medium to large purplish-tinged, tightly-budded spears. Grows well throughout the midwest/east. Mary Washington is one of the older varieties, tried and true.
